The first example I have of this, Angel Fish #1301, is in the Miscellaneous Items in the 1957 Viking Catalog. This Angel Fish is also shown in the 1958 A. L. Randall Catalog. It was listed available at that time in 3 colors, Colonial Blue, Amber and Crystal. They sold for $2.00 each in the 1958 A. L. Randal Catalog.

Viking made a lot of other colors in the 50's including Ebony Black, Cherry Glo, Emerald Green, Amethyst, Ruby and Milk Glass. I do not have this Angel Fish in

Amethyst or Cherry Glo colors and I don't know if it was made in them colors. I am certain the Crystal, Amber, Evergreen, Black, Ruby, Colonial Blue and Milk Glass were all early colors. Milk Glass, Bluenique, Persimmon and Olive Green colors were listed in the A. L. Randal Catalog in 1958.

The 1958 Viking Catalog showed the pattern Yesteryear items made in Milk Glass also. This Angel Fish was shown alone in the miscellaneous section of the 1958 Viking Catalog. Viking spoke of Satin Finish on their Glass in the 1958 Catalog.

I can't say for sure when the Crystal Satin items were made but I think it was at this early date. None of these Epic Angel Fish were listed after the 1959 Viking Glass Catalog.

Dalzell Reissued the Crystal Angel Fish in 1994.

The 1994 Dalzell Viking Catalog shows the Crystal Angel Fish on Page 10. It was also shown in the 1994 Price List selling for $25. Dalzell also reissued some old items in Black but the Angel Fish was not listed. These are suppose to be marked with the Italic word DALZELL on the bottom. I have the 8" Black Cat made at the same time and it has this mark. No other colors were reissued that I can confirm. The Red Base on the fish on the right is from felt under the base, this was not factory done.


Dick and Pat Spencer in their "Glass Animals" book copyright 2004 list the value of the Milk Glass Viking Epic Angel Fish at $250 and the Colonial Blue at $175 - $200.

This Ruby Angel Fish may have been a Sample Experimental Piece, unmarked, made for "Mirror Image" by Dalzell in 1996. Less than a dozen made.
